I am an accredited teacher with a recently acquired M.Ed. I have taught most levels of Social Science, from 6th grade up to the last year of high school. I have helped prepare students for college, and I have rescued students on the verge of failing and dropping out. In my youth, my teachers encouraged and inspired me when I lost faith in myself, so I have a special affinity for children in need of extra support. I want to make sure they get the right start in life. Private tutoring gives me the opportunity to put my philosophy into practice. I am available for tutoring at all levels, in most subjects. In particular, my background and experience in social studies can assist students in handling their sometimes overwhelming course loads. My approach is the I Do, We Do, You Do method. I demonstrate. Then the student and I approach a problem together. Then the student will, and mostly likely can, do the work on his own. When it's appropriate, I also use the Socratic Method of teaching. This method works best with literature and social studies. Since the tutor-student relationship is such an intimate one, I share myself with my students. I tell them about my experiences and about the struggles I had with learning when I was in school. I tell them about my passions, which include archery. I've won awards in local archery competitions. I also love to fish whenever I get the chance. I currently reside in Hollywood, Florida.
